I think it would be very hard to get any more hp out of the intake considering that it already has 6 throttlebodies and the formula 1 team spent time developing the air box. I doubt you would get anything noticable out of remaping fuel and timing of the chip either. There are 3 knock sensors. One for every two cylinders. I would think the timing is set right up to the point of spark knock. The engine management will we retard the ignition timing as necessary. The new exhaust system has been said by BMW to reduce back presure by 40%. So I don't think there is much to gain there. IMO to get any real gains in hp will cost some bucks, but I'm sure it will be done. To me it seems BMW has taken the cheap mods the tuners sell and did a thorough job with this engine. These are just my observations.

Aftermarket air intake, chip mod and better exaust system that isn't so concerned with noise should give this car back 20 hp. While the air intake and chip mod (which would also remove the electronic speed limiter) would give back about 7-10 hp, the exaust would probably give back 10-12.
