BMW Motorsport insulted all of us be deciding to run V8 M3s at the Daytona 24hr. Why??, BMW has been praising how wonderful and reliable their new E46 M3 inline-6 is, reving like a Formula 1 motor, full of torque, etc..., and we don't need the V8 in the street car.

E46 M3GT was getting beaten time after time by the 996 911GTR 3 and BMW's excuse was that it was a teething problem, the new car was still developing and this year would be different. Different??, hell ya, they decided swap the M5 V8s into the M3GTs, WHAT DOES THIS TELL US....that the new inline-6 can't stand a chance against the 911s. What ever happened to BMW's ad for the E36 M3s, remember them??? "from the showroom to the racetrack" "from here (racetrack) to you (showroom)".

Remember how they were bragging how the E36 M3 racecars is identical to the street E36 M3s, using the same inline-6 engines, while the 911 GTR-3 (porsche factory turn-key racecar) wasn't even available in the U.S.

Imagine BMW's new ads for the E46 M3 "we should've give you a V8", "opps", "our racecar is no longer identical to your streetcar". Really, you can't no longer identify the E46 racecar to the streetcar anymore, gone are the days when I was proud knowing the my E36 M3 is the same car that the BMW MOTORSPORT was using the spank the 993 911s racecars.

It was amazing watching those V8 M3s spanking those 911s and even beating some Vipers and Vettes, too back it had DNF a couple of hours before the finish line. Listening the hosts and #54 Car driver, Boris Said, they were so excited about the potential of the V8 M3s this year, unlike the inline-6 of last year. The funny thing is that the V8 M3s was a better handling car the the inline-6 because the V8 is a lighter engine due to its alumn.block.

Wish BMW decided to use the V8 in the E46 M3, so now we don't have this contraversy and critisms from the press.
