I say the Merc testers are very suspect here, and I'd wait to see what the two cars do in the hands of INDEPENDENT test drivers who don't have an incredibly obvious agenda.

You've got the C32 with what appears to be a couple hundred pound weight disadvantage (depending on those options!), and an autobox which logically must sap at least some thrust in the torque converter, but with an engine that's got a slight hp advantage (350-ish I believe?).

Gearing and traction are going to be a factor, as well as the skill of the driver in the M3 (C32 auto is somewhat more of a no brainer).

On paper, it seems that it would be a close race, with the M3 launching harder due to better traction and lower weight, and then the C32 eventually pulling even as the torque lockup converter weighs in and the C32 eventually gets full benifit of it's hp advantage against wind drag nearing top speed.
