Sounds like stolen property. I just saw a show about chop-shops yesterday and they mentioned that it was illegal to remove or alter VIN plates on cars and parts. That would probably include the engine.

I've decided to buy an M5 engine and stuff it in. A guy at the local shop down the street says he can get an M5 engine with only a few miles on it for $800 nego., and I don't have to worry about non-matching numbers since this engine will have all the numbers removed. So, I figure I can sell my M3 engine and come out ahead in both HP and $ Anyone interested?

So, has it come to this BMW?
