WOW, I didn't know many people felt some much about this issue.

Once again, i am not dissing the E46 M3, it's gonna be a world class sports coupe, but in the back of your head, you will hear a voice saying "could've had a V8". On the price issue, if you remember the M Brand Manager said when it was announced that the E46 M3 will come with an inline-6. That the inline-6 was MORE expensive than the M5 V8 because the V8 was already in proudction and ready to go, but they wanted to keep the inline-6 for heritage, some much for heritage linking to the M3 racecar!!!.

There WILL be production M3s with V8s(GT version probably limited to 400) because of the ACO(AMLS) rule, count on that.

Of the 3 cars I owned E36 M3GT, 996 911, and a 355 Spyder the BMW M3 was the most fun and easy to drive (I would post some pics, but don't know how to, maybe I can e-mail someone to do it). I hope BMW will keep that tradition with their new E46 M3. One more thing, if any of you caught the 24hr Daytona on T.V, do you remember that every single that the V8 M3 passes up a 911 or a Vette, the announcer would say "this M3 is totally different from last year's car, passing up the Porsches so easily, THEN again its got the M5 V8. This was repeated over and over in the press.
