BMW may produce a V8 M3, but it may be years before it comes here. They want to beat the Porsche. The M5 V8 isn't lighter than the 6, but it's only 15 lbs heavier. The engine that will be in the ALMS V8 M3's will be a purpose built race engine that will be 4 liters not 5 liters like the M5 version. This wasn't a sad day, it was a new beginning.
