More importantly, $60k invested at 8% return will net you a meager $410,908 after 25 years (assuming you don't touch it and don't add to it). Assuming the median age here is 30, that's a lot of money come retirement time.

I agree with you, LK. If people are stretching their budget to buy this car, they'd be a lot better with a 330i coupe or an e36 M3. Money isn't everything, but the e46 M3 isn't everything either.

I am very blessed in that I'm at a point in my life that I can spend $50k-60k on this car. But I would urge anyone who is debating whether or not they can afford this car - the e46 M3 is not cheap. You are buying a super car with super car performance, not just a high-end BMW. Buyers remorse may set in, and you may not be as happy with this car as you think.

Just my $0.02 from someone who has been there before...
