If rational people were running BMWNA, you would expect a roll-out plan that closely follows SMG availability in Europre, and pricing along the same lines, which would put it somewhere in the $3000 to $6000 range based on prior versions of SMG in various countries converted to US currency.

If those same rational people were in charge of BMWNA, they would have that plan in place, and would be communicating it _through_ the dealer network to waiting customers. Now. Today.

Alas, my basic assumption about BMWNA being rational is very much in question. How could rational people explain things like the Topaz Blue fiasco, or "you'll take black trim and like it" as a marketing plan?
