#1 @ Dealer for E46 ///M3
(Car Ordered)
Looks like dealer is suggesting I could get a regular manual in June / July or wait for SMG in Oct/Nov. Tough decision as I do want SMG but this waiting is getting to me. I guess 3rd option is get the manual and then sell car when SMG comes out. I wonder how much of a loss I'd take in 6 months? Depends where I manage to sell it I guess.
Now, we've been seeing reviews of the M3 since last fall, and we're lucky if the car shows up in North America by march, maybe april. So, if SMG is due out this fall, when are we going to see some magazine tests on it? Seems like it should be soon now.
Finally, regarding SMG in games, the most realistic version I've seen is in F355 at the arcade... a cockpit with 3 video screends (one front, one each side) and your choice of 3 shift modes... auto, paddle, or old Ferrari style H gate.
Anyways, this particular game was _very_ realistic, too much gas or speed at any corner put you right in the ditch. The paddle shifters had heavier feel to them too than what you'd expect from a 'game'. The engine sound impressed me as being more realistic than any driving game I've seen, PC/console/arcade. Worth a look.
