If I was on the very front of a list, I'd be looking at a similar plan (in my case, I'd not lease, instead I'd be planning to sell and re-purchase). BMWNA is having some fun at the expense of those who take early delivery of the M3, holding back options, colors, and various other things that most would want. If you have the resources and attitude, buying one now to enjoy the "early days" and another later (made as you really wanted it) seems an ok compromise.

As a nice side benifit, it'll put some lightly used M3's on the market in the next couple of years for those who can just barely afford one and don't care so much about options and colors.
