From what I know, The CLK is made down in Alabama not in Germany along with the other MB's. I've heard that they still have a lot of quality problems down there. Also the chassis for the CLK is outdated. It is still based on the old C-class. Although I did consider the CLK55, I really wanted a 6-speed instead of an automatic. But the 69k sticker for the CLK55 is what really turned me off.

if you are looking for "feel" the m3 is not the car for you. And unless you plan on Nuetral dropping your car, the CLK55 is faster, and with all that torque much more of a daily driver, not to mention looks and build quality to justify the extra cost.

It will take abrubt downshifts for the M3 to even try and keep up with a CLK55. Both are good cars, but the CLK55 borders on great. The interior is also a lot more comfortable than the M3, its larger and has quality materials unlike the bimmer. Although you cant go "wrong" with either, the clk55 is a far superior car, anyone who says otherwise simply can not afford the other one.
