other companies would have (long ago actually) turbocharged their engine, like audi, enabling HUGE power increases, modifiability, and still leaves plenty of room for upgraded interiors, option packages, etc.. and they are STILL cheaper than 50 grand.

so, for bmw to spend so damn long dicking around with that I6 to make it spit out 333hp (nothing all that special in this price category) only means that there's THAT much more that can go wrong, THAT much more they have to charge to recoup their enormous R&D expenditure, and THAT many more corners they have to cut with shoddy interiors, crappy plastic body pieces, and parts bin accessories.

so, it's a nice powerplant, but so was the Saturn V...only problem is how much $$$ it costs. other methods lead to the same goal, and are easier and VASTLY cheaper.
