Hello. I am an E28 owner and I am thinking about buying a 1971 3.0CS. I have taken some pics of the car in questions and posted them on a web site. I'd really appreciate it if you could take a look and let me know what you think. also, where are the usual rust places i should check and other things i need to look into.

I might be able to get the car for around $5700US to $6800US. I'd like to know what you think! :)

thanks a lot

Looks nice from the photos, though the underside is quite bad, The rocker panels trap dirt and moisture inside and plug up the drain holes, my bet is the rockers are rotten at the rear, don't forget on each side there is 3 rocker pannels (inner, intermediate and outer) the rust is evident on the floor pan so undoubtedly the bottom door post and inner fire wall will have rust also
unfortunatly this will take some fixing ! and that will be a BOTTOMLESS MONEY WELL unless you are a pro body man and expert welder. as far as the mechanical is concerned everything is easily replaced. interior upholstery work is expensive seats, wood, dash, headliner. door seals and window seals are common replaced items but cost a small fortune and must be done by competant experts, and not the average Joe at the local garage. As the old saying goes you only get what you pay for.I think the car is worthy of a restoration. I hate to see one go to the grave
