I've not owned an M6, but am somewhat familiar with the car. It is a 3700 pound car with factory stock 286 horsepower for 12.93 pounds per horsepower. It would be interesting to see what that power to weight ratio provides for performance. I suspect not much better acceleration or handling, but better top speed and a quieter interior. The car is probably more comfortable on long trips too.
My CSi weighs 3000 pounds and has 200 horsepower for a power to weight ratio of 15 pounds per horsepower. This lighter weight makes for better transitions in cornering, and nearly the same acceleration of the much heavier car.
One of the Coupe owners that frequents this board has a Coupe with an M6 engine and virtually complete suspension and drive train from the same car, it is a stunner not only when you open the hood, but also in the driving with a power to weight ratio of a little over 10 pounds per horsepower.
I will probably never do much to my car performancewise other than increase the engine displacement to either a 3.3 or 3.5 liter short block with the same overall configuration of D-jetronic fuel injection and stock cam. A little more torque is always nice to have, but a 140 mph car is fast enough for me, particularly since I don't like the spoilers that came on the CSL's, I like the cleaner styling of the standard car better.
