odometer - now it's a bigger problem (archive)

I figured out what Chris meant with the trip odometer reset knob, it turned out that the cable going from the knob is disconnected from the instrument. I was a bit curious, so I got in the car and drove it... for a few miles... Looks like neither of the odometers work at all(although the speedometer works just fine). I guess I have a bigger problem now (I just got the car, 'hadn't noticed this thing at all).

Does anyone know the workings of the instrument, especially where the cable connections are? I'm going to take apart the dash soon and try to fix it, hopefully it's just connections and not the whole instrument. I'm still trying to track down a good manual for the car.

hmm... no working odometer, I feel pretty bad now : ( I'll really appreciate any help with this though.
