which coutry/partofcountry is this CSL located in?
there is this guy Carl Nelson in San Diego (La Jolla) that knows a lot about this type of car - contact info at www.justbmws.com.
to be honest, i've been searching some german classifieds, dreaming about a euro e28 m5.
while you're over there, could you say hello to the m5's for me? also, please post pics of this CSL so that we can all see it!
Buying a 25+ year old car from europe isn't that hard, since DOT/EPA restrictions end. Just pay the ocean freight/import duty/taxes etc. Minimal cost.
Buying a 88+ euro M5 entails much more, in that you are expected to meet EPA/DOT requirements. So figure at least $7K to the cost of the car. As you will need to import through a DOT/EPA registered importer and you cannot perform the work yourself. (show cars are now excluded --which is why many Z1's are headed to US shores)
I have done this. Unless you get a really good deal on the car --it's not worth it. There are already many euro M5's in the US, just by one of those and save the headache!
