Robert,
I took my 73 CSA to a few reputable places in Los Angeles area and estimates were anywhere between $7000 to $10,000 to do the paint, and fortunatly it doesn't have any rust problems. Paint material is very expensive now with the new EPA mandate. But, I am fortunate that I have a friend that has a body shop and uses the Spies Hecker paint system and willing to paint the car if I do all the trim removal and stripping. He said that paint alone costs him about a $1000 and what ever the hours will be for his labor.
So, I know you can save a lot if you can do the trim removal yourself. One body shop told me that the trim removal and installation is about a $2000 job!! Even if you end up with a local body shop, don't let them mask the trim since you will regret it later. Just put the time and remove it yourself and then let them paint it.
