Bob, thanks for the URL - looks like great info. Robert K.: You've gotten some great answers here. Unfortunately they are right; a lot has changed over the years. The equivalent gallon of paint that cost me about $25 when I painted my first car 25 years ago is now $100 more and this is lacquer which you can't spray in a lot of places. Things are complicated with CSs because they are pretty time-consuming to dissassemble to do paint or body work. As an example, the front fenders are welded on, but have to be cut off to get at some of the areas which most often rust. I'd suggest you get a lot more estimates and talk to anyone you can. Join the BMW CCA and its CS Register if you don't already belong. You may even get lucky with MAACO, but not with their cheapest job.
