I really opened a can of worms about painting my car.

I am curious how much you guys here on the e9 board have spent painting your cars, and what kind of a job each of you got for the money.

It sounds like a subject a lot of folks are interested in (enough to post thoughtful answers to my questions) so I think it would be worth the space.

Thanks for participating,
Robert

I spent $5000 painting my coupe. I had all the components (glass, trim, bumpers, grills, etc) taken off the vehicle, bead blasted to bare metal and installed Spies Hecker paint. The paint was installed by an authorized installer and is immaculate. My recommendation is do not, by all means, try to save a few bucks painting your car. It is a worthwhile investment, hence go with the best.

You want to use either Spies Hecker, Sikkens, or Glasurit paint only. Do not use anything else. Good Luck.

If your in the New York area, please let me know, I will give you the name of my restorer, he is the absolute best
