Hello:

If your car has that much rust showing,
I would suggest driving it "as is", while
keeping your eyes out for a cleaner car.
Maaco paint might not be a bad deal in the interim.

The previous owner did a quickie restoration
and you will not find it so easy the second time
around. R&R of fenders alone will cost you about
$1500-1750 for parts and labor.

Another fact to consider is that between primer
and topcoats, your car probably has been 8-10
coats of paint on it. At least one complete
later should come off.
