The e9 is the ONLY car I know of that in a quiet shop late at night you can hear the car rusting!

Don't worry, the new ones rust as well.
I just picked up my '74 CS after a major tuneup and up on the rack was a gleaming two year old 325i with a nice little rust hole right in the middle of the spare tire well - just like the natural drain in my coupe.

----------------------------------------------
It must be somewhere really bad rust wise.

My '87 535is is as clean rust-wise as when it was made, and even my '72 3.0CS didn't have any rust in it's spare well or even on its trim nuts (the ones in the wheel wells exposed to the tire thrown crap that retain the beltline trim).

Doesn't BMW have a 5 or 10 year rust-through warranty on its recent cars?

Bob
