Sorry for the delay in posting this response, I do not look at the forum for the CS regularly.

My car. Well, I (99% myself) did a ground up restoration of a badly rusted 72 3.0CS auto with sunroof. To facilitate the rust repair I found a donor 71 2800CS and used the body, and 4 spd tranny. All other mechanical and interior pieces are from my 3.0.

I have driven the car about (going from memory here) 9K miles since completing the restoration in 1985. The car has been garaged ever since and never driven in rain. I usually start the car to operating temperature about once per month or two. The only item needing attention are the Zenith carbs (gummed up, won't hold idle well). Also, the original Baikal blue paint is showing signs of poor prep work (due to me!). I used DuPont primer and OEM paint (German)...do not do this. You have to look close to see the flaws.

Everything else works and looks as it should and there is NO, I repeat, NO rust anywhere. Around 1985-87, the car won a local BMWCCA chapter concours and appeared on the cover of BMW GRAM (Sept 1989, Houston Chapter BMWCCA) news letter with the following caption: "David F* stands beside his immaculate 1973 BMW 3.0CS, winner of the Vintage Classic trophy at the Houston Chapter's BMW Auto Show last May." The car has not change since (this is about the time I moved from Houston and put the car in my Fathers warehouse, where it has been stored since.

I am contemplating selling the car for somewhere between $15k - $20K (not yet sure). Basically, the reason I want to sell is that I currently drive a 750iL and am spoiled to the luxury and refinement! Also, I do not want to risk damage to this beutiful car that made me fall in love with BMW's as make.

One last note: keep in mind that more years have passed since I restored the car than the car was old when I restored it. Consequently, some of the rubber is showing its age (mostly the hood seal. The door rubber is surprisingly good). However, I think that the rubber is good as is for many years to come. I will stop here as this is getting long :)

Well, I'm looking for a driver, not a show car. Not to be evasive, I guess my price will be proportional to the quality of the car, but I'm not planning to spend $20K. Could you describe yours? Thanks

I have one for sale. How much are you willing to spend?
