John, Apart from the brake change mentioned by Bob, I'm not aware of any consistent changes between models. Most of them would have been from 2800 -> 3.0cs - I think the bigger-engined cars were also supplied with wider tyres when new, but that's hardly an issue now. The only other cosmetic change I know of (apart from things like reflector lights and other US-type regulations) is the change in the centre-piece of the kidney grille from silver to black, along with the quarter-panel & bonnet/hood grilles. I think (?) all the CSi's have a black centre grille. The CS maybe changed around the same time that the CSi was introduced? The other 4 grilles definitely changed from silver/chrome to black, but suspect it might have been done over time, or as the result of a supplier problem. What with different international regs (I drive a rhd car in Sydney, Aust) it might be bit hard to tell. I sometimes get the impression that the guys at Karmann just bolted on whichever piece was nearest on the bench, with the result that hardly any two cars are identical! cheers, Graeme
