I seem to remember a conversation with my in-laws in Finland about 18 years ago in which they expressed a preference for 4-eyes equiped cars (the export-to-America version) rather than the H-4 lights which I considered superior because in that country they were getting by with putting dual filament H-4 5 5/8 inch units in all four positions for the maximum low beam in their long winter. Furthermore, they would set up the 3 rightmost units with the up-angle of the beam in the usual right-side of the road fashion, but put the left most light with the bulb fitted as for British roads, but angled much to the left, so that it lighted the left shoulder and trees without glaring at oncoming traffic. I suspect that joining the EU has ruined all this creativity, though; as I understand it, the Swedish authorities didn't like Finns driving cars like that in Sweden even then.
