I bought Carl's camber adjustment plates and springs from Suspension Techniques in Modesto CA.

The car handles about 40% better - a very noticable difference, and I would definitely recommend the same to anyone w/ an E9. The upper stress bar is not ready yet, but should be by yr. end.

Cheers.

Just wondering anyone out there upgrade their coupe with performance parts offered by Carl Nelson. Which one of the following change/addition would make the biggest difference: Bilstein, upper stress bar, coil springs, sway bars. Any opinion is greatly appreciated.

IMHO the chassis of the e9 is pretty flexible, so I would be suspect of installing anything too stiff without a roll cage to stiffen things up.

If I installed anything, I would go for stiffer anti-roll bars, and leave the shock and spring rates alone. The trick is to keep the tires vertical, and with MacPherson struts, that means lessening body roll. You can do that with stiff springs alone, but they have to be REALLY stiff, which ruins the ride and flexes the chassis a lot.

The bars will stiffen the ride if only one side hits a bump, but are negligible otherwise, while they do prevent body lean.

I just installed a set of LaJolla's 25/19 bars on my 535is, and the ride only deteriorated a bit while the handling improved a LOT.
