My CS has a similar problem, there's a definite gas smell in the cabin and my trunk is also fine. My car doesn't have AC, but I have reason to suspect the floor. I'm going to lift the car up at a friend's shop and take a look to see if there's somewhere on the floor where fumes may be getting in, but I'm not getting my hopes up (when the car was checked for rust, it was lifted up and inspected and nothing was found there, so I doubt that there are cracks, etc, but i do want to look again).

Part of the reason that I suspect the floor is that the trunk seems to smell less of gas than the cabin sometimes. I guess that it could also be coming through the firewall at some point from the engine bay.

The smell doesn't bother me much, but I'm sick of other people complaining ; )

So what do you think about floor or engine bay wall? Anyone else dealt with this?

Now that I have your attention. I have a strange question that I am about to ask about my 73 Coupe that I have owned for the past 9 years. Recently, there has been a smell of gas/exhaust seeping into the passenger cabin of the car. It really smells bad, or atleast my wife says so. I can't seem to pinpoint the reason for the recent smell. My trunk is bone dry,it does not leak. (However recently I noticed that I am missing one of the trunk door rubber pieces that helps the trunk close evenly, they are located at the end of the trunk on the left and right sides.)

Perhaps if I let you know of my recent changes to the car that might help. I have had the following upgrades recently:

a completely new exhaust system
new webbers installed.
I also had my airconditioning until reconnected and surprisingly it still works. But it only pumps in more smelly stale air.

It is driving me and my wife crazy. Anyone one experience a similar problems.
