I work in the mechanical engineering department at U.C. Berkeley and all five of my lab mates are deathly afraid of touching the terminals on a 12 volt car battery.

I had brought my car battery in to the lab to use the charger we have there and they all thought it was some kind of trick when I demonstrated it by touching both terminals at the same time.
