Charles,
I talked to Skip once, also with a client of his, who was trying to sell a "restored" 2800CS for $8500. As part of my investigation to have a feel for what kind of work, he did to this coupe, I was under the impression that it was not as though as it could have been. I also mention the name Mr Glass cars to Tim at CSI, and his feeling is that Skip does not think twice about substitube cheaper and more readily available materials for EOM. I am sure about his experience with the coupe. However, when I asked about the engine and transmission rebuilt of the so called "fully restored" 2800, his answer was that it did not seem to be needed it!!! So he just replaced the head, which has the tendency to crack (when overheated). No rear brake upgrade to disc brake??? Perhaps I should visit him, just to shake hand with a guy, who had owned a 300SL Gullwing, and Porsche 906, etc... before making negative statement about him. Judge on your area code, you are not in the Southern California area. There is a lot to do here, fly in and visit us. Talk to him, and take a look at the car and some of his works for yourself.
Good luck
Thai
