There was a 3.0Csi posted for sale recently in Waltham, MA. If I remember correctly, it had less than 70K miles and seemed in good shape (based upon the description). Problem is, I can't remember on what site I saw it. It was one of the car sales places though. Asking price was $15K which seemed high to me.
I just went through the same search in NE (although half hearted) and ended up buying a 2800 CS coupe from CA and having it shipped here (thanks again, Will!!). It was worth the hassle and expense because structurally it is about as perfect as it can get, there is almost no rust (really - I keep looking for some and can't find any) and it is mechanically sound - (recent engine swap, new carbs, cam, driveshaft, etc). Chances are I would not find a car in a similar condition in NE or anywhere really. The condition is really unbelievable.
I did look at two CS'in Maine this summer. One had sat in a barn for 8 years and I think a blind man had re-painted it - really a shame. All of the rubber pieces were dried out but structurally the car appeared sound and had just had a complete brake overhaul. It was silver, and an automatic with 40K miles. Asking price $11K but it needed another $3-4K and a paint job to make it right. Another was available in the same area (Wiscaset), again an automatic but higher miles for the same price.
It really depends upon your plan. If you want to restore one, you probably know what to look for in terms of condition and price. If you are buying one for instant gratification, then take advantage of someone else's pain and suffering (and checkbook), go West and buy the best example you can find and have it trucked here. Just have a reputable mechanic and body shop familiar with these cars check out the condition for you. You won't be sorry.

I am interested in finding a 3.0 CSI (e9) in excellent condition with full documentation on repairs and restoration, including pictures. I live in New England. Please email me at renshaw1@home.com if you have or know of any such cars. Please only great examples.
Thanks
That CSI was on ebay.
