Graeme,
I took everything apart last night, including the glass from the support arm. I grease everything, then temporarily reattach without the glass. It ran a little better but the spline jump when thing binded up along the track (the grease help it skip better). I took the pinion gear from the big wheel, and grease the tracks. I will manually slide the mechanism and grease everything along both tracks before reassemble. I'll let you know.
