I have basically done this conversion. You will find that it is a lot of work and you will most likely have to change the braking system of the car if you want to keep the motronics. I have heard of dropping on the L-jet mainfold and that should clear the brakes, but I am not sure you can get it to work correctly with the motronics. As for my advise to you after doing this myself, I would personally do a 5 speed conversion and then build the motor in the car. You can build that motor to be quite strong and with the 5 speed conversion you have no problems. The only reason why I did it the way I did was because I had a wrecked E28, that I owned and I didn't want to see the parts go to waste. So the coupe was in need of a full restoration, so I decided, lets mix and match. Well everything has turned out well so far, and I am hoping that before Jan. 1 we will be able to start it up and drive it around the block!! Only a little over a year to that point. Anyway, check out my web site, URL link below and you will be able to see the basic idea of what we have done. Since we are still working on the car, I have not written anything up on how to complete a project like this, because the car isn't working yet, but I am hoping it will be running by Jan. 1 which will be a huge step.Rob A
