Thanks, that part is now $8.50 and my dealer had it in stock for some reason. Its a little quiter but still very loud. I think my transmission is trying to tell me something - I'm going to start looking for a 5-speed soon.


There should be a factory part still available, i bought one a couple of years ago for my 72 cs . It's foam and formed to fill the area around the housing containing the shifter it has a hole in the middle and fits over the housing by being pushed down ,however you have to get under the car and remove the housing in order to get it in there but it is very effective in sound deadening. If i remember it cost around five dollars.
