Chirs,

I'm inclined to do the salvage yard route mainly because I'm a mechanical engineer and I have a shop to make simple parts. But, I also want to do it myself because I've never rebuilt a transmission and this is good time to figure out how to rebuild a five speed. There's also some great BMW salvage yard in the SF area.

I haven't even started to look into this, but I'll keep you appraised of anything I learn.

I am in the same boat on my 72 CSi. I hope to do something after Christmas as far as a 5-speed. Have you done any research into the "kits" that various people offer? I am looking at the Metric Mechanics "kit". Or are you inclined to go to the salvage yard and piece your conversion together?

Chris
