I'll appreciate your help. I live in Ottawa but work in Princeton. I'm available
Saturday January 6 to look at these cars. I'm stacked other days.
One is located here, in Nyack:
http://www.vintagecarstore.com/cgi-shop/view_item.pl?HTML_FILE=detail.html&KEY=00129133044
It's the one for 8900. It has 41K miles. If it has no rust I'd go with this one,
as 4K will buy a lot of repairs and upgrades vs the latter car. I know nothing
about this car apart from the thin info the dealer gives me. He claims that
there is no visible rust. He's not a BMW expert at all, IMHO.
The other is in in Stamford, CT:
1973 BMW 3.0 CSI A wonderfully preserved, rust free, original car with the
same owner for over 26 years. Finished in silver metallic, navy blue leather,
manual transmission, factory AC, all tools. Properly serviced its whole life,
runs and drives beautifully. $13,900 FIRM (MATTHEW DEGARMO 203-852-1670)

And ( MBala2002@aol.com) says for >this< car:
Well the drivers seat needs to be replaced or at least rebuilt. The gear
which moves the back of the seat is stripped out and jammed almost in the
fully reclined position. Incidently, however, the upholstery is brand new
leather. The replacement work is OK, just OK. In my opinion the drivers
seat, besides the rebuilding, needs to be restuffed. The drivers side seat
belt is shot and needs to be replaced as well.
The rear windows do not operate. This could be a number of things, but
regardless a "big" pain in the ass to fix. The suspension could use
upgrading. In my opinion it is probably the original.
Other than these items the car runs strong and the overall condition is quite
good. The paint is in good shape, perhaps an older respray. If you can buy
this car for between 10-11K, it's a solid coupe. The repairs, all said and
done would run about 2K.
