my car 3.0 CSI from 1971 use the D-jectronic system
with the control unit under the rear seat...(i read L-jectronic only for 3.3 ...)
my number distributor:0231 306 001 PFUDX6

my number rotor: 1234 332 196 (same as 525 and 528 i read in the handbook for 5 series...is it normal???)
if you possess a CSI can you verify..?

and i will sent you a BMP pic / you will can see the capsule position difference I think the real Problem!!!
