The trunk seal does NOT fit over the lip. It glues in the channel outside the lip and is, indeed, shaped like a "C." I just installed brand new TRUNK and ENGINE seals, and they're not that expensive.

The engine seal (foam)begins at the cowling firewall and extends around the rear of the cowling (in front of the windscreen) only.

Maximillian or LaJolla are good sources.

I recently bought a 90%-restored csi. LOVE HER! However, it does not have a trunk seal nor an engine compartment seal. First, did this car have a seal in the engine compartment, if so, is there a cheap substitute or will I have to shell big bucks. Second, the car came with what I was told was a new trunk seal. However, the trunk seal does not seem to have a lip or seam anywhere which would fit over the metal lip on the edge of the trunk. The seal has a profile like the letter "c". Any ideas! Is there a substitute? Thanks for any help in advance.
