I am visiting from the Z/M 3 site, and have some important questions for the well-informed. I will be retiring from the Army this spring, returning to the States to start a second career. I currently own two other BMWs, both of which will be making the trip back with me. At the present time, I am searching the web and sites like this, to find E9s for purchase. I love the style and design of these cars and have always wanted one. I figure now (or soon to now) is the right time for me to buy. What I need is some expert (or maybe not so expert) advice from owners and followers of what to look out for when purchasing these cars. I know that rust and poor maintenance are usual things, but I would like to know if there are any real quirks that over the years have caused E9 owners to pull out their hair and whip out Mr. Checkbook and draft mega-dollar checks for costly repairs. You know the stuff I mean, bad electric window motors, gear shift knobs falling off in your hand, bad clutch plates, leaky oil pans, etc. Any advice would be appreciated, as would any leads on cars, the more stock the better, the better the condition the better.
