I bought my 73 CSi a couple of month ago through mostly internet correspondence. Through the use of the local reputable shop (Denver area, in my case) for a pre-purchase inspection, I bought the car. The inspection was very through, and the report was very accurate. I did not even see the seller, though we maintain contact to this day. Until you personally gone through doing the works, I don't think you can fully fathom the potential problems and hidden pitfalls of a coupe (I am learning that right now). If you can stretch your budget, why settle for a project. Look in collector (auto) trader.com. There is a car for $7500, which had been restored some year ago with numerous upgrades in Idaho.
