I just looked at a pretty nice 3.0CS I am considering, but some of the details are just not there.
One I am concerned about is the trunk stowage box. It has been "refinished" with vinyl paint, as have the other internal trunk panels.
The problem is that it appears "bent" (see photo) and the guy painted the chrome rivets that fasten the box together when he refinished the box.
I don't want to scratch the finish on the rivets to remove the paint, and the bottom of the box's compartments are somewhat soiled and cannot be adequately cleaned to look new, so I think the box is not restorable to my standards, though otherwise it is in excellent condition for someone's "driver."
I have been checking with CS suppliers and none can supply new boxes. Does anyone have a perfect one among their spare parts they'd be willing to sell? I do not want to pay the $300+ I was quoted by one supplier who offered to ask among "his" sources. I think it would be worth $150 or so, however, so email me.
One other piece I need is the vinyl covered cardboard liner that goes across the back of the trunk (with the cut-outs for the tail light assemblies. The one on the car has edges that are frayed a bit (the cardboard backing).
I also need a complete trunk tool kit. The case is there, but the tools are gone. Again, I was quoted $400 for the tools (brand new with proper part #s), but that seems high to me. Anyone got a spare set to sell? I've seen almost perfect ones on ebay for $75 or so, but usually some of the tools are scratched or the goldish finish is blemished somewhere on a wrench or two when I contact the seller for condition.
If you have original spare spark plugs for the kit, I'd like thoise as well, since the ones in the car are "new" Bosch plugs, and I want proper 1970's vintage plugs for authenticity.
I also need the plastic thumb screw thingy and screw retainer that keeps the tool box closed, BTW.

P.S. If I end up buying the car, I'll sell the stowage box for $100 to someone who isn't concerned with the defects I mentioned.
