1974 Bavaria question (archive)

I am looking for an older BMW, and a friend of mine has a 1974 Bavaria, 3.0 six cylinder. It's in very good condition, possibly even excellent. 126,000 original miles, always parked inside and never wrecked. I am interested in driving this car daily, and maintaining carefully IF the car is worth it. I would like to know: (1) Approximately what is this particular car worth, (2) How rare is a car like this? (3) Would I be better off looking at a different model and/or year for the money?

The above questions assume that I would like to drive the car on a daily basis, to and from work in the city. Also assumed is the fact that I can not see paying $25K + for a nice Bimmer. I've seen too many old ones that are very cool. I'm going to go look at the classifieds here for now. Thoughtful reply appreciated, Thanks
