Graham,
What color? How many miles? New Engine? Miles on Clutch?
Is it a 4 speed or 5 speed?
Leather is "almost" perfect then?
Does EVERYTHING on the car work (windows, A/C, all electrical circuits, etc.?).
Thanks,
Phil
Phil,
So you've heard from the jury about what you're looking for vs what you wish to spend.
I am relocating very soon to the atlantic seaboard and have a '73 3.0cs in beatiful Bothell that I am going to part with instead of shipping crosscountry.
Here's the reality of it:
I have spent $10000 on the price of the car and work on the car in the last 5 months and am motivated to sell it. It is not in primo condition but hear me out. The car is from Texas and is rust free. Paint job approx two years ago. Due to the dry weather, most of the rubber needs to be replaced and the seats are the worse for wear. Here's the kicker to mull over; If you want to keep a rust free car rust free, you won't be driving it in the PNW until July. It will cost you around $1500-2500 to fly around and find that car AND get it transported back.
With that in mind, you have the time and extra money saved to get my 3.0 where you want it to be.
CarTenders on 12th Ave (up from Seattle BMW) works on these cars and has done many restorations. By the time the sun shines and you have spent $2000-4000 more dollars than I am asking, you will have the car that you're looking for and just 15 miles north of you as we speak.
I have a few pictures I can e-mail.
Let me know if this is an option. I depart on Saturday morning but the car will be in the area till my wife joins me.

I am new to this board (I have an e32 735i)looking for the nicest 3.0CS ('72 or '73 only) I can find.
It should have no rust at all (recent restoration) with good paint, and should have a good leather interior (some patina is acceptable, but no cracking, tears, hard leather, or bad seams), and a new or newly rebuilt engine and suspension. A sunroof would be nice, but it shouyld also have decent air conditioning and a nice stereo.
Naturally, I would like receipts for all work done, and I am not interested in cars repaired after wrecks.
I can pay top dollar for a really primo car (up to $10,000 cash), but naturally would like to pay as little as possible.
Could someone point me to the car I am looking for? I am willing to travel to find a really nice one. Please-no junk. I am not looking for a Concours car, but it must be REALLY nice.
