believe it or not, black was a rare choice for color.

yes, the cars look amazing in black, but at the time, black was considered old-fashioned and out of place on what was considered a very modern car.

i know this because my neighbor is an original owner of a black/"schwarz" '73 and these are his words, not mine.

by the way, my friend also tells me the multi-colored tail lights on an E9 were considered particularly "space age," as was the plush interior.
