I am getting ready to do the same thing (install a 3.5 into my CS). I am going to use the manifolds that came w/ the 3.5, as they are larger in diameter than the original 3.0 manifolds. I will have to have new downpipes made to tie into the stock exhaust. On my system, the original downpipes are much smaller in diameter than the remainder of the exhaust, so I believe I will end up w/ a less restrictive system. I took the manifolds and my down pipes to a local muffler shop yesterday. They quoted me about $100 to make up the new downpipes. He said he has the ability to hook the downpipes up to the 2-bolt exhaust manifold flange without having to order any BMW parts. The original manifolds have a 3-bolt flange, so there was no way to use the older downpipes with the newer manifolds.
