I think somewhere in the dim past I have seen a printed record of the colors available from the factory, and how many cars per year were in each color. You might be able to get that from "JustBMWs.com".
Black was a rare color. Here in Sacramento I've seen them in dark blue, white, burgandy, and light blue. (That's when I do see one. They are rare, and they all hide when it rains - as they should!)
