Well everything was going great. I got 150 miles from home when I decided to stop for fuel and a pee break. When I got off the freeway I couldn’t shift into first or second gear. I finally forced it into third and made it to the gas station. I called my wife and she rented a car trailer and started south. I finally got my car to a ford dealer who was able to fill the transmission with oil. The Chilton manual I had said that it holds 2.5 pints but mine ended up only 2.8 pints low. Well it did the trick I was able to get going again and shift gears. However third gear was wasted a bit. It still works but pops out real easy.

I met up with my wife 75 miles out and I put the car on the trailer and towed it home so I could visit. We dropped the trailer off and drove the rest of the way home. Total the experience only cost $60.00 . $20 for the oil and $40 for the trailer. I think I got away cheep.

Does any one think it would be better to rebuild it or replace the transmission?

On the Chilton manual, do you think it will be ok or should I look for something else?

Troy
