It's best that you got this one, because it would have been a major headache for me to deal with the tranny troubles en route to VA. Glad you were so close to home when it happened.
As for the 5-speed, I'm no expert, but I would strongly recommend it... cut down on engine revs. People say that the overdrive 5-speed is more durable than the close-ratio unit, but again this is second-hand knowledge for me.
Not to be rude, but I'm still in the market. Did the seller let go of the car for less than the asking price?
