My factory service book has a template for drilling the hole in the left front fender to install a "disappearing aerial". The motor unit looks just like the modern universal Hirschmann antenna. I put one of these in my e28 to replace the stock unit and it fit without any problems. I suspect all Hirschmann antennae are very similar.
