I installed a Hirshman (I think, it has been 16 years) with no trouble. I then installed the sheilds that keep the dirt and water out of the cavity. I ran the drain tube out of the bottom of the cavity/shield junction.

You will need to install a relay under the dash somewhere (some antennas have built in relays) and get always hot 12v power. No modifications to the sheet metal were required.

I have a 72 CS with a manual antenna mounted on the left front fender. I would like to know I anyone has swapped this antenna for an electric one. I would like to be able to install a used hirshmann or like, found in the newer 5, or 7 series. All help and suggestions are appreciated very much!
