Thanks...
PS, I still need to put a value on the car, any ideas...
Karl,
Rust is the hardest thing in the world to fix on a CS coupe, waaay worse than on '02's. The reasons are:
When it's available, new sheetmetal is hideously expensive
Much of the sheetmetal is NLA new
There is (trust me) NO way to guess the extent of rust prior to cutting one of them up to take a look. Even those of us who have done many cars can (at best) only make an educated guess. Even then there are always surprises.
The CS true-believers ALL seem to believe the best way toget acoupe is to buy one finished
All that said, I have a very rusty 73 and a mountain of new sheetmetal which has all been sitting for two years...waiting...hoping for attention. It's been too easy (since then) to just drive my solid 69 and was FAR too easy to get a totally rot-free73 shell to work on....but then the RHD E3 distracted me....oh well.
I will NOT tell you not to get the car, and if you do I WILL provide any cheerleading I might be able to muster, BUT be forwarned they're a labor oflove and the people with spare parts have NO respect for the type of penny-saver attitude the '02 crowd is affectionately known for. i.e. if you're really tight with a buck, it'll cause you a LOT of headaches getting a CS into great shape.
