While I seriously doubt it would look really very good for $2000, I am dead-bang sure that it would be structurally inferior when completed.

You simply cannot (in good conscience OR workmanship) advocate the kind of "repairs" you mention and sleep at night, can you?

I am not looking to start a war over this, but we surely don't need any more bondo-buckets running around out there. Have some pride, man!
